Trademasters is Making a Difference in Lorton, but Getting Noticed Nationally. There is nothing like a home-grown entrepreneur. Dave Kyle, a life-long Lorton resident and his wife, Beth, launched Trademasters in 1990. Today they serve a wide variety of households, businesses, and government facilities and employ over 150 employees.
As 2018 comes to a close, this local business has garnered 7 prestigious awards. Two of their awards recognized the difference Trademasters has made and continues to make in greater Lorton. For decades, Trademasters has tirelessly provided both in class education, and mentoring through the Fairfax County Academics that offer advanced, technical, and specialized courses to high school students.
The Trademasters team has educated our community on how skilled trades professionals directly contribute to and make a difference in all of our day-to-day lives.
For the leadership and Trademasters contributions, they received the CTE Creating Excellence Award from Fairfax County Public Schools, and were also named to the Virginia School Board Associations Business Honor Roll.
The third award, while National in scope, also can be felt closer to home. This year, Trademasters was named a 2018 HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award Winner. As a military child, and living near Fort Belvoir, the recognition and appreciation for those who have served our country just became a foundational value of Trademasters. Their VA-Approved training program and being a certified Virginia Values Veterans (V3) employer means Trademasters meets the Veteran's Association requirements for use of GI Bill benefits to transition into the industry. Veterans earn while they learn on the job, attend training, and within a few years, become licensed tradesmen. For their work to recruit and employ those individuals who have served our country, they received the Hire Vets Award. Today, nearly -15% of their co-workers are veterans.
On a National level, this local business was recognized by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) as the Commercial Contractor of the Year. Selected from a deep pool of trade related business across the country, this ward recognizes the impact Dave and Trademasters have had to the industry in setting standards for service, professionalism, and skill.
In March, Dave was named the Small Business Person of the Year for Northern Virginians and then was selected to represent the state of Virginia by the Small Business Administration (SBA). To round out the year, Trademasters was then named to the Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest growing businesses in America.
Quite a year of the business that began in the founder's basement nearly three decades ago. It seems like they are on a roll.
